Sometimes in football, opportunities present themselves that you might not have expected and for former Leeds United youngster Charlie Allen, that might currently be the case.
That’s at least if the latest reports from Sweden are to be believed, with the youngster currently on trial at second division Östers IF.
Fotboll Skanalen cover the situation today, explaining that the Swedish team, who are currently fighting for promotion from the second division and five points behind leaders Landskrona BolS, have taken the former Leeds man on trial this summer.
They’re looking to bolster their squad for their promotion battle and have announced on X that he will train with the club this week.
Allen is currently available as a free agent after bringing an end to a four year stay at Leeds after joining them from Linfield U18s in August 2020.
He had worked his way from the U18s at Elland Road to the U21’s, including a loan at York City, but failed to make a first-team appearance for Leeds and so left on a free transfer this summer.
Now his path could take him to Sweden, with Östers IF giving him a chance to impress during a trial this week.
