Benfica defender Morato is on his way to Nottingham Forest to complete a deadline day move that will cost €15-20m.
That’s according to journalist Bruno Andrade, who reports that the defender is already on his way to Nottingham Forest to finalise the move.
He reports that Benfica are set to receive €15-20m for the Brazilian defender, who would become Nottingham Forest’s 10th signing of the summer.
Andrade provides no further details on the transfer than that price and the fact the player is travelling but appears there is a confidence in Portugal that it will be done before the end of the transfer window.
Morato will become the sixth central defender in Nottingham Forest’s squad alongside Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic, Andrew Omobamidele, Willy Boly and Zach Abbott.
He has presumably been targeted as a replacement for either Moussa Niakhate, who left to join Lyon, or Joe Worrall, who has joined Burnley.
It remains to be seen what role he’ll play moving forwards, particularly after the arrival of Milenkovic in a €14.3m deal earlier this summer.
That’s for Nuno Espirito Santo to decide and for now the defender appears to be travelling to finalise his transfer, which has already been agreed with Benfica.
