Since Ilias Akhomach’s move from Barcelona to Leeds United collapsed, Arsenal have been pointed out as a potential destination for him.
The youngster is no longer heading to the Whites because of the departures of Victor Orta and Javi Gracia, but with him still looking for the way out of the Camp Nou, some clubs showed up as alternatives.
It turns out, however, that Arsenal may not have a clear road to sign Akhomach for free. Catalan outlet Sport today feature a story talking about his ‘curious case’, because since the deal with Leeds collapsed, he’s actually been doing very well for Barça’s youth ranks, and they may reconsider his decision.
So even though his renewal with the La Liga giants is still considered very difficult, they haven’t ruled it out yet. It’s said the situation is currently at an ‘impasse’.
The 19-year-old is said to have ‘offers’ from Arsenal, Milan and Sevilla. But his departure is apparently not guaranteed for now, and will certainly depend on how his relationship with Barcelona goes from here to the end of his contract in late June.
