Sam Beukema has risen in stature at Bologna since last season.
Before the Rossoblu’s clash against Liverpool some weeks ago, he spoke about how he could have joined Arne Slot during his time at Feyenoord.
That didn’t go through as Beukema joined Bologna instead. He he’s now made his admiration for the Reds clear but also talked about his boyhood love for West Ham United.
He spoke to Corriere dello Sport, ahead of the Serie A side’s clash against Aston Villa, and is quoted as saying: “I also have ambitions and hope one day to be able to play maybe in the Premier League or another big club.
“I was a fan of West Ham. I once visited Upton Park with my father and I was really impressed, because the atmosphere was similar to that of Feyenoord or Go Ahead Eagles.
“But there are so many fantastic teams in England, so if another great club like Liverpool came along I would be happy to go there one day.”
The 25-year-old has already visited Anfield and that happened when the Rossoblu took on Liverpool some weeks ago, with the Reds running out winners despite Bologna giving a good account of themselves.
Beukema’s reputation has grown since he started working under Thiago Motta last season.
He’s been linked with a host of Italian clubs in recent weeks and that suggests that he could be on his way out of Bologna soon. Talking about West Ham and Liverpool is one way to grab everyone’s attention.
