Now that Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United is confirmed, the Portuguese star is free to join any club as a free agent.
Even though we all know there’ll be a long list of sides linked to him in the coming weeks, we already see a Premier League club being named as a potential destination.
That’s Newcastle United.
This information comes from the Spanish media, where Marca feature a story about Ronaldo’s future.
They claim the 37-year-old should now stay in England or move to Saudi Arabia. Those two possibilities are Newcastle and Al-Nassr, as both clubs are owned by Mohammed Bin Salman, and the player is ‘torn between’ them.
It’s stated that the Magpies already tried to sign Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, and the St. James’ Park’s side would now have bigger chances of landing him as a free agent.
With the English media claiming Manchester United gave the player no restrictions regarding the new club he’s set to join, Ronaldo seems to have the path open to stay in the Premier League, with Newcastle looking like a club who could afford his wages.
