Weston McKennie has had an interesting last few weeks. The Juventus midfielder wanted more money from Aston Villa as part of a Douglas Luiz swap deal and that move fell through.
Last week, we covered a report from Calciomercato which spoke of a proposal from Everton but the Toffees haven’t quite gone forward with it.
As a result, McKennie finds himself in limbo and he might just be regretting not joining Aston Villa. After all, Calciomercato report today the midfielder is ‘completely’ out of the Juventus project and he isn’t part of their pre-season either.
More so, he is now at risk of being completely out of new manager Thiago Motta’s side for the upcoming season, if he doesn’t manage to find a new club.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2025 and despite the lingering risk of losing him for free, Juve aren’t against not using him at all next season.
There are no signs of Aston Villa coming in for him but the report mentions that the previous approach indeed came from Everton, but it wasn’t backed up by anything concrete.
With every passing day, it looks like McKennie wanted to bite more than he could chew with the Aston Villa rejection.
