On Sunday, Sport reported Barcelona are ready to welcome Manchester City star İlkay Gündoğan with ‘open arms’ and hope to conclude a deal for him soon.
The midfielder’s contract with the Citizens expires this month. After winning the Champions League, he admitted a decision hasn’t been yet been made on his future.
This is relayed by Mundo Deportivo, who state ‘sources’ close to the 32-year-old have informed them a decision on his future will be made ‘tomorrow’, after Monday’s open-top bus parade with Manchester City.
The La Liga side have offered the German a three-year deal and Xavi Hernández has held direct talks with him. At the same time, Barcelona are aware the player is ‘receiving a lot of pressure’ in the last few hours, from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who initially offered a one-year extension, have proposed a two-year deal with an option for another year. Meanwhile, PSG are also ‘pressing’ for him.
With three proposals from Manchester City, Barca and PSG on the table, Mundo state Gündoğan ‘will decide his future starting tomorrow’.
Having won the treble, Gündoğan now needs to decide whether to accept the renewal offer from Guardiola’s side to continue in England or start a new adventure elsewhere.
