Kai Havertz will earn €20m per season at Arsenal following his move from Chelsea, and Declan Rice is set to earn the same.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the German today and huge wages he has been given at the Emirates.
The newspaper reports that Havertz was tempted to join Arsenal from Chelsea this summer after being made the top earner at the Emirates on a deal worth €20m a year.
That figure, which does not include potential bonuses, puts him at the top of the bracket at Arsenal and into a wage range that had not been reached at the club since the departures of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil.
Thomas Partey had been the previous top earner at the club on €12m a year, around €250,000 a week but Havertz has blown that out of the water with his €20m a year, €380k+ a week package.
He has been thrown into a new ‘top group’ in terms of salary level at the club, with Declan Rice set to be added to it if he completes his move from West Ham as expected.
According to BILD’s information he will also collect around €20m a year and the plan is for them to ‘form the new heart’ of the team under Mikel Arteta.
Rice will be handed the task of organising the midfield in front of the defence while Havertz has been promised the opportunity to play behind the strikers, the role he rose to fame playing at Bayer Leverkusen.
The hope is that he can get back to the form he showed in Germany and justify the wages he’s been given, with Arsenal digging deep to ensure they continue to challenge after last season.
