Despite the recent reports claiming Everton and Sporting have an agreement for the transfer of Youssef Chermiti, it seems the player is not aware of that deal.
This information is brought by O Jogo, and says the striker actually was ‘surprised’ with the news about the talks between the clubs.
According to the outlet’s sources, the player remains ‘focused’ on staying at Sporting and continue with his career there.
The report also recalls that Chermiti is protected by the Lions with a €80m release clause.
The deal between Everton and Sporting was first reported by ZeroZero, with the outlet claiming the agreement was for a €15m fee, plus bonuses, with the Lions getting 10% of a future move.
Record then came up to say that deal wasn’t done yet. It was claimed that the Lisbon side were still pushing to get 20% of a future transfer, and the contract wasn’t ready yet.
Well, that last part may be the reason why Chermiti is now surprised with the news. Perhaps Everton and Sporting had engaged in talks even before they had the green light from the player.
