Monday’s edition of Sport reports it’s a key week for Chelsea pair Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, with Barcelona wanting to sign the Spaniards in the current window.
The story has been around for over a month, and there’s been endless claims about the potential moves. At the weekend it was stated the duo were set to have meetings with Chelsea within hours, to convince the Blues to let them go. That timeframe has now changed to talks being held this week.
An interesting new development is the claim that a move for Alonso is now looking likelier than for his Chelsea teammate. The player is said to be ‘sure’ the Blues will let him go this summer, and Barcelona are ‘optimistic’ about agreeing a cut-price deal to sign him.
There’s now much less optimism regarding Azpilicueta than there was previously, although there’s no detailed explanation over why that is.Sport once again state that both players are keen on getting moves to Barcelona secured in the coming weeks.
