Despite being sold by Leeds United to Barcelona for €58m last summer, Raphinha still isn’t able to fully convince at his new club.
The winger had a slow start at the Camp Nou, and despite his improvement in the last few games, when he benefited himself from the absence of Ousamane Dembele, there’s still no guarantee he’ll hold that starting spot in the team.
Outlet AS today features a story claiming Raphinha indeed took the chance the prove himself lately, and that’s now Xavi who will decide whether he deserves to stay in the starting XI or not.
However, as AS made a poll asking fans whether it’s the former Leeds player or Dembele who should have a place in the team, 80% of the voters prefer the Frenchman.
That means Raphinha may have done well in this period, but his weak start of the season still means that Barcelona fans don’t have a huge amount of trust in what he can do for the team.
Since the move from Leeds, the winger has eight goals and nine assists in 36 games, and it seems it will take a little more until he can fight to be a regular starter.
