Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé is ‘still a long way’ from joining Everton this month, as he is not keen on joining a relegation battle.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Toffees have work to do if they wish to sign the Frenchman this month.
Everton are desperately scouring the market for a striker to add to their squad in the January window, having struggled for goals all season.
They have been linked with strikers all over Europe as a result and Lyon striker Dembélé is one of them, with a report stating that Everton had been looking at him as a summer signing when he will be available on a free transfer but were considering stepping up their plans given their current situation.
Jeunes Footeux follow that up today and say while it is not a complex deal on paper, the Toffees will ‘have a hard time’ getting their hands on the striker.
While he has not ruled out a move, he would prefer to finish the season at Lyon before choosing his future destination.
Dembélé is ‘ready to study’ the offer that Everton might put on the table but at the moment he is not ‘keen on the idea’ of joining a club who are fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League.
Nothing is fixed at this moment in time, but the striker remains very far from joining Everton because of that and those in charge at Goodison Park have work to do to convince him and bring a move closer to happening.
