Leicester City remain interested in AS Monaco midfielder Sofiane Diop, with his future at the Ligue 1 side ‘unresolved’.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that the midfielder is ‘still of interest’ to Leicester and Borussia Dortmund this summer.
They explain that although he was used very little last season, Monaco manager Philippe Clement has insisted he is counting on the player.
He’s shown confidence in the player by using him in pre-season despite the fact he’s missed most of it with a thigh injury.
If he isn’t then that could push him to seek an exit and Leicester are one of the sides who are interested in him. Whether negotiations are underway isn’t mentioned but the interest is there nonetheless.
At the same time, the newspaper explains Monaco are unlikely to pursue a move for Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré because of the Foxes’ demands.
Philippe Clement would like a replacement to be sourced for Aurelien Tchouameni, who joined Real Madrid earlier this year.
One potential target had been Soumaré, who Leicester are seemingly willing to let go just a year after an £18m arrival from Lille.
Monaco have been named as suitors, and back in July, we covered reports that they had seen a first bid rejected.
And it seems a second bid won’t be incoming, with L’Equipe reporting that the idea of signing Soumaré has been put to one side.
That’s because Leicester are ‘demanding’ €20m for the midfielder, a figure that those in charge of the Monegasques have deemed ‘too much’.
There’s no mention of what price they would like to pay for Soumaré but at the minute it seems the two clubs are far apart in their valuation.
Perhaps that can change in the coming weeks, but for now, Monaco are looking elsewhere in their search for a new midfielder.
