West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville is likely to be on the move this summer, and AS Roma are now trying to get ahead of Tottenham in the race for the winger.
The attacker was one of West Ham’s standout player’s in a very disappointing campaign. He scored five times, along with four assists.
His qualities in attack were asset for the Premier League side. SportWitness have covered how AS Roma are keen on him, with Gian Piero Gasperini a big fan of the West Ham man.
The Italian side are now trying to make their task easy and beat Tottenham in the chase.
Malen holds the key
Summerville is part of the Netherlands squad that will play at the World Cup, along with Roma’s Donyell Malen.
The ex-Aston Villa man has been an impressive signing for the Giallorossi since arriving in January. Leggo report that he is key in convincing West Ham about a move to Roma.
The outlet believe – relayed by VoceGiallorossa, that Summerville will soon speak to Malen about the decision. He appears to be stuck between Roma and Tottenham, with Malen having the chance to push him towards the Italian champions.
Meanwhile, Gasperini is lying in wait. He sees the 24-year-old as someone who is similar to Ademola Lookman in the final third.
The Nigerian was vital for his Atalanta side, famously scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final in 2024. Gasperini believes Summerville can make the same impact, if he ends up rejecting Tottenham for the Serie A club.
European football can help Roma
The Giallorossi qualified for the Champions League and this can be vital in the race for the Hammers forward. Tottenham can’t offer European football after narrowly missing out on relegation to the Championship.
With both Malen and Summerville also having the same agents, Roma will be looking to capitalise on thise.
