On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported Bologna have rejected Arsenal’s €47m bid to sign Riccardo Calafiori. It was also stated the Serie A side want more money and they are hoping for the Gunners to return with an improved offer.
Later that day, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said Arsenal had made a better offer to both the defender and Bologna. He also stated Mikel Arteta’s side are in pole position and the next few days could be crucial to get this deal over the line.
Di Marzio made no mention of Calafiori and the Italian club’s stance or the details of the offer made by Arsenal.
TuttoMercatoWeb provide more on this and the latest on the north London club’s pursuit of the 22-year-old.
It’s pointed out the Premier League side’s €47m offer for the Italy international was already turned down by Bologna.
TMW claim Arsenal have improved their offer by €3m and this has ‘satisfied’ Bologna, who have ‘said yes’ to the €50m bid. They add Calafiori is also ‘convinced’ with the project and offer proposed by the English club.
It’s claimed the defender ‘could soon sign’ for Arsenal, and ‘everything could be defined this week’.
