Wout Weghorst potentially moving to Manchester United this month has obviously been one of the biggest stories in the Turkish sport media this week.
The Netherlands international is currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley, and that loan is supposed to run until the end of this season.
The Istanbul club have been it clear repeatedly that there’s no clause which would allow Burnley to end the loan early, and therefore Besiktas will have the final say on whether Weghorst can leave them.
Previous reports have made it clear the striker is keen on taking the opportunity to join Manchester United, a chance which is being seen as hugely fortunate in the Netherlands. Weghorst is said to have told Besiktas that he wants to go, and there’s now a suggestion he’s taking more direct action.
Fanatik report the Dutchman hasn’t taken part in team training on Wednesday, claiming he has pain in his groin and muscle contractions.
Instead, he trained inside with a coach.
This is a breaking story in Turkey, and the slant is that it could be transfer related.
