RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol ‘sits on packed suitcases’ waiting to complete a move to Manchester City, which should be finalised ‘in the next few days’.
That’s according to Sport BILD and Leipziger Volkszeitung, who both say a deal is pretty much done to make the Croatian the most expensive defender in the history of football.
The former reports that Gvardiol will be joining Manchester City in a deal worth over €100m, with those in charge at the Etihad deciding to ‘allow themselves this luxury’ and get the player for Pep Guardiola.
That price has been determined by the contract extension the defender signed at Leipzig last summer, which included an increased release clause.
LV back this up, stating that Gvardiol ‘will soon’ become the new record Leipzig departure when he departs for Manchester City. That transfer happening is a ‘growing fact’ according to them.
They state that Gvardiol has made it clear to the club that he wants to leave, and City have shown ‘ardent interest’ in him so there is a deal there to be done for €100m plus the usual bonuses included in such a deal.
They state that Gvardiol ‘sits on packed suitcases’ waiting for the deal between the two clubs to be completed so he can move to England.
That is expected to happen in the coming days as City splash the cash to bolster their squad and make Gvardiol the latest big exit from Leipzig this summer.
