Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri is edging closer towards completing a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Swiss publication Blick claims the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan man’s move to Liverpool is agree, it’s said to be ‘perfect’, and only medical tests are now pending. The Potters were relegated from the Premier League after they finished 19th in the league last season.
Mark Hughes signed the Swiss international from Inter in 2015. Stoke parted ways with the former Manchester City manager during the 2017/18 campaign and he took charge at Southampton for the last eight games of the previous term.
Blick suggest Hughes wanted to bring Shaqiri to St Mary’s Stadium in the summer transfer window. However, they say the Merseyside club have won the race to sign the 26-year-old and he will now join Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool already have the services of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane at Anfield. Shaqiri’s addition will provide the former Borussia Dortmund manager more options in the attacking positions.
He is expected to travel with his new club on their preseason tour.
