Earlier on Friday, reports from the Italian media claimed Aston Villa had doubts regarding the physical condition of Nicolo Zaniolo.
It was claimed that following a deal between Villans and Galatasaray, the player underwent his medical and there wasn’t certainty about how fit he is to play in the Premier League.
It turns out that the little setback seems to have been overcome, as Corriere Dello Sport feature an update on the situation.
The outlet confirms that Zaniolo went through ‘severe knee tests’ between yesterday and today, and says he’s now actually ready to sign for Aston Villa.
Their story claimed that the 25-year-old is expected to sign the contract ‘by 4pm’ (3pm in England), and will arrive from Galatasaray on a loan with a right for redemption.
Zaniolo is in Birmingham with his father and his staff, ready to complete the move.
Meanwhile, CalcioMercato.it journalist Alessio Alento also confirms the move, and brings more details about it.
According to him, the documents were signed ‘a few minutes ago’. Aston Villa are reportedly spending €3.5m on the loan, and will have a right to buy the player for €20m.
Given his previous knee issues, it would be no surprise if there were at least slight concerns over the situation. It’s quite possible Aston Villa secured last minute concessions from Galatasaray.
