Player to sign one-year contract with Nottingham Forest – Option for another season also there

Earlier on Thursday, we covered news from France that Nottingham Forest were on the verge of signing Serge Aurier on a free transfer.

The news came from Foot Mercato, who stated the player had travelled to Greece to meet Evangelos Marinakis and would be undergoing his medical in the next few hours.

This move also wouldn’t necessarily jeopardise their efforts to sign Djibril Sidibé, but what was lacking were the details surrounding the Ivory Coast International’s potential contract at Nottingham Forest.

That has been covered by L’Equipe, however, who explain the former Tottenham player will be heading to the City Ground on a one-year basis with an option for another.

Aurier spent last season at Villarreal, where he played a part in their run to the Champions League semi-finals, and will be returning to the Premier League, where he has already made 77 appearances, scored five goals and assisted another 12.

Basically, some good experience for Steve Cooper to lean on at Nottingham Forest this season, in what is expected to be a difficult camping for the newly promoted side.
