Since Lucas Moura’s final months at Tottenham Hotspur, it had always been said that he was looking for a major deal with a new club, as that could be the last opportunity in his career to make a long-term contract.
That’s why, despite the wish to return to Brazil, he would give his priority to Saudi Arabia or the MLS, who could pay him very well.
Now it seems that hasn’t worked out for him. Because according to UOL, Moura’s next club after Tottenham is set to be São Paulo.
Journalist André Hernan explains that only ‘details’ are stopping him from signing for the club for now.
The initial plan was for Moura to sign for Los Angeles FC, and due to the lack of a spot for a foreigner player, he’d get loaned out to São Paulo until the end of the year.
The problem is that the Brazilian transfer window closes on Wednesday, and they don’t want to do that operation in a hurry. That’s why the player is set to continue as a free agent and calmly finish negotiating his four-month deal with the Tricolor.
Moura had been linked to São Paulo since his time at Tottenham, as he shows big love for the club where he started his career.
Still, his return is happening sooner than expected, maybe due to the lack of interesting offers on the table.
