Werder Bremen star Marco Friedl has laughed off rumours linking him with a move to Nottingham Forest, insisting there is nothing to it.

The centre-back has been speaking to BILD about his future at the German club and insisted that a move to the Premier League isn’t on the cards right now.

Reports in England had claimed that Nottingham Forest were pushing ahead with an effort to sign the 26-year-old as they continue to reshape their squad this summer.

The center of defence appears to be an area they’re keen to improve and they’ve already moved in that area with the €14.3m signing of Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina.

That didn’t stop the links to Friedl, though, particularly as there still seems to be suitors for defender Murillo as well.

The report in England had been confident about Nottingham Forest’s efforts for Friedl, insisting talks were underway and they were potentially ready to push to get him from the German club.

That, though, appears to be news to the player himself, who has insisted he will be remaining where he is, and his agents haven’t spoken to anyone.

“They are rumours. Players, clubs and the media live on rumours,” he said.

“I have always said how comfortable I feel here and that I still have a lot planned for the club. That doesn’t concern me very much.

“If there was an enquiry, my advisors, the club and I would know. But nothing has been discussed. It is not an issue. I will not leave the club.”
