European journalists continue to report West Ham United’s deal to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax.
The latest story now comes from Sport1 chief reporter Patrick Berger, who, on Twitter, says the deal is ‘confirmed’.
According to him, Alvarez will have his medical with West Ham on Tuesday, following agreement for a five-year contract.
The Hammers are set to pay Ajax a total fee worth around €40m, with bonuses included.
The agreement between West Ham and the Eredivisie side apparently took place very quickly, as despite the long rumours, things accelerated a lot in the past couple of days.
On Saturday, it was first reported that Alvarez had ‘verbally agreed’ to join the Hammers, and on Sunday, it was said the London side had placed the ‘first official bid’ for the transfer.
The deal between the clubs was announced by the Dutch media today, and with things moving that fast, it would be no shock if David Moyes’ side announce the signing before Wednesday.
Alvarez had been linked to Premier League clubs for a long time, and West Ham finally put an end to that saga.
