CF América goalkeeper Luis Malagón has insisted he is ready to fight with Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas if he ever joins the Mexican club.

The goalkeeper has been speaking to ESPN, relayed by Infobae, about Navas after he made comments about a potential move to América recently.

Navas is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Paris Saint Germain, having joined them at the end of the January transfer window.

That loan deal is set to come to an end once this season is over, with it as yet unclear whether he will be extending his time with Steve Cooper’s side or moving on.

At 36-years-old, he has a big decision to make, with his time at Nottingham Forest so far proving he still has plenty left in the tank.

He was recently asked about his future plans and admitted he would love to head to Mexico to play for América before hanging up his boots.

It seems those comments did not go unnoticed by their current incumbent Malagón, who has insisted he is ready to fight for his place.

“Keylor (Navas) is top, he’s the same quality as Memo (Ochoa),” he said.

“I’m going to work hard and hopefully they’ll let me stay in goal for America for a long time. I want to make the most of the opportunity.

“I know it’s very difficult, I want to give my best and fight for a place.”
