Following a failed transfer to Union Berlin, it seemed like Isco would be heading to Turkey instead of Everton, who were reportedly keen on his signing.
However, a move to Konyaspor appears to now be off the cards, meaning the Spaniard remains a free agent for clubs to approach.
We will have to wait and see if Sean Dyche, who oversaw a 1-0 win over Arsenal in his first game in charge as Everton manager over the weekend, will want him around, but it also depends on the player himself.
Estadio Deportivo published an article on the situation late on Sunday, where it’s made very clear that Isco Alarcón ‘is still looking for a team’.
All the various options available to him, including the Everton one, are pointed out, but the outlet explain the former Real Madrid player ‘seems to be more seduced by the American route’, where several MLS clubs are ‘awaiting his decision’.
His dilly dallying has forced Konyaspor to look at another option, with the Turkish club going after Alejandro Pozuelo instead, who is expected to sign until the end of the season, where he will bring ‘creativity, experience and goals all in one go’.
That could have been Isco, but it seems the Spaniard has other ideas in mind, leaving a very small opening for Everton, who might need to be very convincing if they want to convince him of giving up his pursuit of the American dream.
Then again, at this point, do the Toffees really want a player who clearly fancies himself somewhere else?
