As Manchester City fullback Yan Couto prepares to take part in the Copa America with Brazil, the local media shares some news on the player’s future.
Globo Esporte today reports that the fullback has had his contract with the Premier League side renewed for one season, and is now tied to the club until the summer of 2026.
According to the story, that was signed at the start of the season, but was kept secret until now.
Regarding Couto’s future, it’s said that it’s ‘unlikely’ he’ll be used by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The club, meanwhile, know he’s wanted by some European sides, especially after his good season on loan at Girona.
Staying at the Catalan side for another season is not ruled out, but this could be the best chance for him to be involved in a bigger transfer. Real Madrid monitored him during the season, seeing him as a potential successor to Dani Carvajal, and are currently discussing the possibility of signing him.
So while the Manchester City player prepares for the Copa America, he has a very uncertain future in Europe.
