Leeds United have reached a verbal agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Weston McKennie, according to Sky Italia.
The Premier League side have been trying to sign the midfielder for the last week or so. They have now agreed a deal with the Old Lady to take him on a loan deal with an option to buy set at €35m.
Leeds will pay a €1.5m loan fee to the Turin club and the option to buy will become an obligation if certain set conditions are fulfilled.
It’s claimed the good relationship between Leeds sporting director Victor Orta and Juve official Giovanni Manna was ‘important to close the deal’ for the American.
Jesse Marsch’s side, for now, will take the former Schalke man on loan with an option to buy. Sky state Leeds’ desire is to make McKennie’s deal permanent, either under the set conditions or through renegotiating new terms with Juventus after this season.
