Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has admitted that it didn’t take much time to convince him of the move to the club this summer.

The Dutchman has been speaking to NOS about his move this summer, and how it came about.

Zirkzee joined Manchester United in a €42.5m deal from Bologna in the middle of July after two years impressing with the Italian side.

He is one of several new faces in Manchester United’s squad this summer after a busy transfer window of reshaping the squad for manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch boss has been backed by those in charge at Old Trafford after they elected to back him at the end of last season.

The move for Zirkzee did raise some eyebrows given United already spent big last summer on Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to lead the line for years to come.

It’s since been made clear that Ten Hag sees Zirkzee in a different role anyway so there won’t be a clash anyway.

Zirkzee certainly isn’t concerned and insists it took very little to convince him to make the move to Manchester United this summer.

“If I’m honest, I was immediately convinced after the conversations,” he said.

“The process has started in Germany. In the end it was an easy choice. Why? It is Manchester United after all.

“The conversations I’ve had… If a club is so convincing and wants you, it’s not difficult. I also had good conversations with Erik. He wanted me there and I wanted to play for him. That is a good combination.”
