Manchester United fullback Alex Telles received some great news this week. Currently on loan at La Liga side Sevilla, he was called up for Brazil’s World Cup squad.
That’s why outlet Globo Esporte today features an interview with him. The big subject was that he’s featured for clubs from many places, as he already played in Brazil, Turkey, Portugal, England and now Spain.
Telle insisted he’s been happy with all his moves, saying he carries some experience from each one of those clubs.
“Each spell in each country I’ve been to was cool, I had a learning experience. Thank God they were all positive and I walked out the front door, that’s something I’m proud of,” Alex Telles told Globo Esporte.
Regarding leaving Manchester United for a La Liga side this summer, the player made a comparison between the leagues, insisting the quality of football in Spain is comparable to what he had in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is the most disputed league in the world, but I also see La Liga with a very similar status. Now, within La Liga, I can see that it is an absurd quality, maybe not as physical as the Premier League, but with an absurd quality, just like in England. I knew I would be in a very strong championship, with very high competitiveness. And being in a club that also seeks big things and conquests, it’s always up there, competing.
“I also came obviously thinking about the World Cup, about having more minutes, more sequence. It’s the cost you also pay to prepare yourself, to feel good. I realised that I would have more minutes, more game play and maybe feel more comfortable on this adventure.”
The fullback also says he didn’t have any doubts about swapping Manchester United for Sevilla.
“From the moment the club invited me here for the signing, for the opportunity, I didn’t think twice about all that I’ve already mentioned. And today I feel good, in a very good physical state, a very good mental state and confident for what lies ahead.”
On loan at Sevilla until the end of the season, Telles already has 19 appearances for the club. Once returning to Manchester United, he has a contract running until 2024.
Despite being in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup, it’s still unlikely he’ll find a lot of playing time there, since Juventus’ Alex Sandro is expected to be the starter.
