Standard Liège will try to make a last-minute approach to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Steven Alzate, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Jupiler Pro League side have a few hours left to carry out the deal as the transfer window in Belgium closes later today.

Tavolieri says Standard Liège are working to find a ‘satisfactory solution’ for all parties involved in the deal.

The 24-year-old returned to Brighton after spending the previous season on loan with the Belgian club, where he managed three goals and five assists from 29 games.

Tavolieri took to Twitter again to provide additional updates on Standard Liège’s efforts to sign the midfielder.

He claims the Colombia international will return to Standard Liège on a short loan deal and has ‘said yes’ to them. The journalist further adds the Brighton player is ‘due to fly’ to Belgium on Wednesday.

Alzate’s entourage are confident of a positive outcome but it’s a ‘race against time’ to get the deal over the line since the window closes later today.

The South American’s contract at Brighton lasts until 2024 and he hasn’t featured for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this season.
