Three days ago, Diario de Sevilla reported Sevilla are negotiating with Manchester United over a deal for Hannibal Mejbri.

The La Liga side have agreed a deal with Ajax for youngster Stanis Idumbo Muzambo. He’ll initially be part of their youth team, so they’re still looking for a midfielder in the winter market.

AS state Sevilla are focusing on the Manchester United player and claim they are ‘obsessed’ about strengthening the No.10 position this month.

Diego Carlos had requested for a creative player and his successor, Quique Sánchez Flores, wouldn’t be against this idea.

It’s claimed Óliver Torres isn’t fast or skilled enough for the No.10 role while Erik Lamela has been mainly used on the wide position this season. Ivan Rakitić, 35, has been deployed behind the striker but that’s not his preferred position.

Therefore, Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta is looking for options in the market. He has set sights on Mejbri, who has been restricted to less than 100 minutes of action in the last two months.

AS claim the Tunisia international has ‘said yes’ to Sevilla but Erik ten Hag is ‘reluctant’ to let him go this month, even though the manager hasn’t handed regular minutes to the 20-year-old.

Mejbri can play as No.10, and performed in a variety of positions for Manchester United.
