There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Celtic are again looking to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır.

The Turkey international was linked with a move to the Scottish champions in the summer and with the advancing years of Kasper Schmeichel, Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on signing the 26-year-old.

Star today report on the latest developments regarding the future of the Manchester United player after weeks of speculation over his future at Old Trafford. Since arriving from Fenerbahce during the 2023 summer window the goalkeeper has hardly figured for the English side, leading to claims he wants to leave the club.

Celtic are reportedly in transfer talks to sign Bayındır and are looking to get an agreement done this month. The player would be seen as the long-term successor to Schmeichel, who turned 38 in November.

However, Bayındır’s agent has said his client will be going nowhere in this window and subsequently Celtic may have to wait until the summer.

Yesterday we covered comments made by Sefa Seyrek in which he insisted the player wouldn’t be leaving this month.

“There are clubs interested in Altay now, but Altay wants to stay and play at Manchester United. The club definitely doesn’t want to let Altay go,” said the agent.

Since arriving signing for Manchester United the stopper has made just four appearances and is contracted to the Red Devils until June 2027.
