As Aymeric Laporte only has 19 appearances this season, with only eight being in the Premier League, it’s no surprise he’s unhappy at Manchester City.
The European media is often speaking about that situation, as he’s likely to change clubs this summer, with even Newcastle United named as contenders for his signing.
However, it turns out that as Mundo Deportivo now feature a story on the 28-year-old’s future, there’s good and bad news for the Magpies.
The outlet writes that even though Newcastle, AC Milan and Juventus may all be interested in Laporte, there’s only one club in his mind, and that’s Barcelona.
He’s ‘ruled out’ offers from Newcastle and elsewhere.
It’s claimed that the centre-back has a ‘big desire’ to join the Camp Nou side, but it’s not guaranteed they’d go for his signing this summer.
Barcelona have several centre-backs in their squad, and to go after Laporte, they’d need to make a couple of sales this summer. They’d also struggle with his wages, as he currently makes something around €6.5m per season.
So Newcastle may have to fight against the player’s wish of moving to his home country, and specifically Barça.
