Marvin Ducksch was one of multiple players to arrive at Birmingham City in the summer window.

The German spent his entire playing career in his home country before Birmingham City signed him from Werder Bremen.

Ducksch has this week appeared as a guest on podcast Auf der Linie, and Fussball Transfers have relayed his comments.

The 31-year-old has discussed leaving the Bundesliga club for the Blues in August and has justified the move.

NFL legend Tom Brady became the Championship side’s minority owner in August 2023.

Ducksch has revealed a chat with the Tom Brady has ‘dispelled his doubts’ about joining Birmingham City. This conversation convinced him he was making the right decision.

“When I arrived for the medical and the contract signing, they handed me the phone, and I was allowed to speak with Tom Brady. That inspired me even more to speak with the GOAT in person. That was when I finally knew I had made the right decision,” he said.

The frontman spent four years at Werder Bremen, of which the last three were in the top flight. Ducksch was asked whether a move to Birmingham City is a step back, considering he’d played in the Bundesliga.

When responding to that, the player said he had also been convinced of the English club’s project.

“Absolutely not. The project behind it is very exciting. I always set high goals for myself – and the club’s goals matched my personal ones,” Ducksch explained.

Ducksch’ start to the season was delayed due to a calf injury and he’s played four matches for Chris Davies’ side so far.
