Ryan Kent spent five years at Rangers before leaving Michael Beale’s side as a free agent after the end of last season. During his time at Ibrox, he won the title and the Scottish Cup during the 2020/21 season.
The former Rangers winger has already completed a move to Fenerbahçe on a free transfer in the summer window.
Rıdvan Yılmaz arrived at Ibrox when Beale’s side signed him from Beşiktaş in 2022. During an interview with TRT Spor, Kent has now revealed that he held talks with the Rangers teammate before making a switch to Turkey.
“I talked to Rıdvan Yılmaz before I arrived. But I only listened to myself while making the decision. I knew the greatness of Fenerbahçe, I knew the team’s ambition and habit to win,” he said.
In his final season at Rangers, the Englishman was regular under Beale’s orders, scoring three goals and registering 10 assists from 40 appearances.
Kent wasn’t the only player to join the Yellow Canaries on a free transfer. The Turkish club have also taken former Manchester City and Inter Milan star Edin Džeko for free. The ex-Ibrox man is eagerly waiting to play alongside the Bosnian next season.
“Not to mention Džeko’s career, he has had a great career. He has a very humble personality. I’m so excited to be playing with Dzeko. I can’t wait to learn from him,” Kent explained.
