Crystal Palace star Yohan Cabaye is currently on international duty with France at the Euros, and has been speaking to the French media.
The 30-year-old left Paris-Saint Germain last summer to move back to the Premier League, and was asked by L’Equipe about his decision to join Crystal Palace.
“In fact, when negotiations had advanced, I was in Clairefontaine. The France coach then came on to the subject and I told him. I quoted him the interested clubs and I asked him what he thought.
“He said.. “Yo, the most important thing for you is to find rhythm, especially in terms of your playing time”.
“That’s why I selected Palace, it’s also because I know the coach very well (Alan Pardew) and I love the Premier League.
“Despite the poor second half of the season, we had an excellent first half. On December 19, we were fifth (finished at 15th). I have never regretted any choice of my career,” he told L’Equipe
The French midfielder, as expected, was important for Crystal Palace this season, and made 33 league appearances. He also helped them reach the final of the FA Cup, and that earned him a place in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the Euros.
