Ryan Kent has insisted he will have no issue with the pressure at new club Fenerbahce as he is accustomed to the expectations from Rangers.
The winger has been speaking to the press as pre-season gets underway at his new club, with his comments covered by FotoMac.
Kent departed Ibrox on a free transfer this summer, bringing an end to a four year stay at Rangers following a move from Liverpool in September 2019.
He made 218 appearances for the club in that time, with 138 of those coming under Steven Gerrard, 57 under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and then 21 under current coach Michael Beale.
It was during Gerrard’s reign that he enjoyed the most success, bagging 28 goals and 32 assists in those 138 games and winning the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup.
He was a key player as Rangers briefly established themselves as the top team in Scotland once again under Gerrard’s leadership, something which brought big expectations back to Ibrox as a result.
Rangers were expected to win every time they played, particularly in Scotland, where they and Celtic are the undisputed top two teams working with bigger budgets and undeniably better teams than their domestic opponents.
The same can be said of new club Fenerbahce, who have won the top division in Turkey 19 times in total, the second most in the history of the division behind Galatasaray on 23.
It means that they, like Rangers, are expected to win more often than not, and Kent insists he is more than prepared for that.
“The transfer process took a long time. I didn’t want anyone to influence my decision,” he said.
“Our managers told me about the goals of the club. There were other offers, but I wanted to play for a team that fights for trophies. I hope we can add new trophies to our museum.
“I had other offers from Europe, but I wanted to come to a team that fights for trophies and championships.
“I come from Scotland and there, too, Glasgow teams are expected to win every game. I will create the most pressure because I have to give my best in every game.”
