Nottingham Forest defender Loïc Mbe Soh is today featured on Paris Saint Germain’s official website.

The defender, who left the French side for the Reds in 2020, recalled that move and the reasons he had to make it.

Mbe Soh claims it was quite a risky move to leave PSG for Nottingham Forest, especially because he was so young.

“I played and grew up there for seven years. Inevitably, it was like a heartbreak, because Paris gave me everything. Thanks to the club, I had a wonderful experience that can never be taken away from me, but it was time for me to embark on a new adventure.

“I needed to make something of myself, to get out of my comfort zone. So I opted for England, a risky gamble far from home, but a well-considered one,” Mbe Soh told PSG’s official channels.

Last summer, Nottingham Forest loaned Mbe Soh to Dutch side Almere City, and the player now claims to be happy at the club, especially because of the amount of playing time he gets there.

“This season I’m playing for Almere City FC in the Dutch D1, on loan from English club Nottingham Forest. I’ve played around twenty games in all competitions. I’m happy because I came here to get some game time.

“I’m trying to make my way in the professional world. It hasn’t always been easy for me because I’ve had to deal with a few injuries. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! Paris has given me the mental strength to keep getting back up. I’ve always had big ambitions, and that’s never going to change.”

Nottingham Forest spent €5m to sign Mbe Soh from PSG in 2020. He stayed at the City Ground for three years, but as he was still making his way through to the first team, he only made 13 official appearances for the Reds.

It was in January 2023 that the Premier League side decided that he should gain some more experience elsewhere.

So he was then loaned out to French side Guingamp, and when returning from his spell last summer, he was immediately sent to Almere City, where he’s staying until the end of the season.
