In the summer transfer window, Leicester City were linked with a move for Argentine talent Matias Soule.

The former Juventus player ended up joining AS Roma on a permanent deal. While the start to his life at the Giallorossi wasn’t the most impressive, he has slowlybecome an important player for Claudio Ranieri’s side.

He has scored two Serie A goals since February and has also impressed in the Europa League.

The 21-year-old has now spoken to La Stampa about how his situation was in the summer and the player revealed that he always wanted to join Roma, despite Leicester City’s interest.

He said, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb: “One day my agent called me and told me that Roma wanted me. I looked into the interest, spoke to De Rossi and the owners and they convinced me.”

“From the first call from Roma I already knew I would come here. After a few days of waiting, with some fear that it might fall through, the transfer ended for the best.”

TMW further state Leicester City actually offered a fee of €30m to Juventus and that was more than what Roma offered.

It was Soule’s decision that proved decisive, as he wanted to play in Rome. He saw the move as the right step for his career and the Argentina international also had intentions of staying in the Serie A.

The last few weeks have shown that the talent’s decision was the right one, as he continues to enjoy Ranieri’s trust at the Stadio Olimpico.
