James Tarkowski and Conor Coady’s addition to the Everton squad in the summer meant regular game time was not on offer for Jarrad Branthwaite at Goodison Park.

The Toffees let the defender join PSV Eindhoven on deal in July and he has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season.

Earlier reports indicated the Dutch club cannot stop Everton from cutting short his loan deal in January. Last month, Eindhovens Dagblad explained the 20-year-old will have a say on his future on whether he wants to return to the Merseyside club.

Despite not being able to enjoy more minutes with the Eredivisie side so far, the centre-back is happy with the situation and has insisted on finishing the season at PSV.

“This is just a very nice club, PSV. There are many committed people who want to form a family club together. I ended up in a nice team,” he told Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Soccernews.

“This is a beautiful environment for me in all respects and moreover this competition is the good platform to grow further as a footballer. I am very satisfied here.”

The Everton owned player will have to compete with several players for a place in PSV’s starting lineup. Branthwaite remains confident he will get opportunities under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“At the moment we often have double training sessions per day. There is so much to fight for, including the cup tournament and the European match against Sevilla. Competition at PSV? There are a lot of good players, but I see enough opportunities for myself,” he said.

“When they come, I have to get them. Before the long World Cup break, I showed what I can do a few times and it went well, but there is more to it. I want to get better step by step.”

The England U20 international’s contract at Everton is until 2025, but he isn’t concerned about his long-term future.

“I want to play as much as possible, that is my goal. I am not concerned with the further future after this season. The focus is entirely on the second part of this year at PSV,” Branthwaite concluded.
