Now presented by Villarreal, Bertrand Traoré had his first public words after leaving Aston Villa.
The winger signed a contract with the Yellow Submarine which runs until the end of the season, and is now ready to impress them in this short spell to get a longer deal at the La Liga side.
Quoted by AS, Traoré claimed that transfer a great opportunity for his career, and is eager to succeed at Villarreal.
“I’m very motivated by this opportunity that I don’t want to let slip away, and I’m ready to help the team when the coach decides, because I’ve just come from playing with my national team,” said Traoré.
“LaLiga is a championship I have always followed. I thought I would never play in Spain. But luckily I have the chance to show who I am here in Spain. I’m very motivated by this opportunity and I don’t want to let it slip away. I’ve even told my friends that I’m going to learn Spanish soon. This football is very competitive and I hope to show my full potential.”
Traoré joined Aston Villa on a €18.4m move from Lyon in 2020, and now left the club after 62 appearances made for the Premier League side.
In 2022, he was sent on a loan to Turkish side Basaksehir, where he stayed until January 2023, and had been getting very little little playing time with the Villans.
This season, for example, he only had 43 minutes on the pitch, in six appearances made.
That’s why the club didn’t mind letting him go before the end of his contract, and Villarreal managed to sign him on a free deal in the end, which was probably the best solution for all parties.
