Southampton midfielder Charly Alcaraz has admitted he is still pinching himself about his move to Juventus in January.
Tuttosport cover comments from the youngster today to Instagram account Data Racing, who cover his former club Racing Club in Argentina.
The 21-year-old is currently in Italy on loan at Juventus, who he joined on loan from Southampton in one of the surprise moves that month.
He’s had something of a rapid rise over the last year or so, having joined Southampton in a €13.65m deal in the January transfer window in 2023.
He established himself as a regular for the Saints since then, playing his part in their battle against relegation last season and making 23 appearances in the Championship this season.
That was brought short by Juventus, who moved to sign him on loan at the end of the January transfer window in a deal that includes an option to make it permanent.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, with the player yet to make an impact and hampered by injuries on that front so far.
The Southampton man is determined to turn that around, while still pinching himself that he’s ended up at a European giant like Juventus at this point in his career.
“When I think about where I am now it’s something incredible,” he said.
“When I moved to Juve, my former teammates at Racing and also the president contacted me, as happened when I went to Southampton.
“I’m very happy to stay here. It’s one of those things you dream of as children, that is, playing in one of the great clubs in Europe. Playing for Juventus at 21 is something crazy.
“If I think about how I arrived here in such a short time, I ask myself ‘What am I doing here?’: it’s very nice. When I arrived, I was almost ashamed, I felt a little insecure.
“Arriving at Juventus, with all the great players it has had and has been something that can put you in difficulty.”
