It appears that Tanguy Ndombélé will not be a Napoli player next season and will return to Tottenham at the end of the season.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who don’t really make a big deal about the news, simply putting it in an article about the future of Cristiano Giuntoli.
The Napoli director of football was the one who orchestrated the deal to sign the Tottenham midfielder on loan, with him given the chance to impress in Italy to get his career back on track.
He’s managed to do that to some extent, but not enough to convince the Serie A side to spend the pre-agreed €30m on him.
There has been talk that the Italians could negotiate with Tottenham to try and get that price reduced to eventually take the Frenchman off Spurs’ hands, but that no longer seems to be an option if Gazzetta are to be believed.
They explain that Giuntoli is currently busy ‘identifying a new Zielinski’, because ‘Ndombélé will not be redeemed’ and the fact the Poland international seems reluctant to renew within the wage cap parameters set by the club.
Therefore, he needs to find someone new, but it won’t be via spending money on the Tottenham player.
