Reports from the Germany media now say that Ilia Gruev is close to joining to Leeds United.
According to Bild, the 23-year-old was released from Werder Bremen’s training session on Wednesday to discuss personal terms with the Whites.
The outlet says the final decision on the transfer should be made on Thursday, although they already claim the player is ‘moving’ to Leeds.
Werder Bremen are reportedly requesting €4m to let Gruev go, and the Whites seem to be willing to match that price, given the confidence shown by the German outlet.
Bild highlights that the Bulgarian is actually not the only player moving from the Bundesliga side for Leeds this summer, as there are also advanced talks for the transfer of Oliver Burke, with the striker expected to complete his own transfer on Thursday.
It’s pointed out that Werder Bremen had the ‘urgent need’ to make some money in the final days of the transfer window, so these deals with the Whites are actually helping them get the financial power to make at least one more signing of their own.
