Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson is leaving Arsenal for FC Copenhagen, according to claims from Denmark.
Following initial reports from Bold, it’s now BT who state the player is being released from his contract with the Gunners.
It’s said that Rúnarsson had his deal with Arsenal rescinded and is now ready to sign with Copenhagen until 2027.
Even though the goalkeeper was supposed to stay on loan at Cardiff City until the end of the season, it’s said a ‘solution’ was found between all parties to have that spell cut short.
Rúnarsson joined Arsenal back in 2020, when the Gunners signed him from Dijon for €2m. In his time belonging to the club, he made six appearances, all in the 20/21 season, when he even had a sequence of starts in the Europa League.
The London side then decided to start loaning him out, though, and then he played for OH Leuven, Analyaspor and Cardiff City. The Championship side only gave him eight appearances this season, and that’s why breaking his loan spell there was apparently not a problem.
