On Thursday, journalist Loic Tanzi stated Brentford have offered €35m plus €5m bonuses to sign PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko and were trying to finalise a deal.
De Telegraaf state Thomas Frank’s side have informed the winger’s entourage they want to go ‘very far’ to sign him and offer €40m to secure his services.
The newspaper adds the Dutch club cannot refuse this offer but that doesn’t mean a deal will go through.
That’s because the Belgium international reportedly has ‘serious doubts about a move to the Premier League’ and would prefer to continue at PSV, who have qualified for the Champions League group stage.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to Twitter to state the attacker has ‘refused Brentford’ in order to extend his stay with PSV.
He says this is the ‘choice of the player’.
Het Nieuwsblad also state the 20-yea-rold has decided not to accept a move to Brentford because he wants to stay at PSV and ‘excel in the Champions League’ this season.
He wants to showcase his qualities in the Champions League, and hopes this can attract more clubs.
Bakayoko managed nine goals and six assists from 39 games last season, and has four assists from seven games this season.
