On January 23rd, L’Equipe reported Aston Villa continue to court Mattéo Guendouzi and have not given up on the possibility of signing the Marseille player in the winter market.
Later that day, La Provence explained the Premier League side could move quickly for the 23-year-old by including one of their own players as part of the deal.
The Ligue 1 side have agreed a deal with Angers for Azzedine Ounahi. L’Equipe now state this would allow Marseille to cover their backs, if Guendouzi were to move to Aston Villa before the window closes on Tuesday.
Regarding Aston Villa’s interest, it’s said they have made a ‘very nice offer’ to the former Arsenal man. Unai Emery’s side, however, have not sent an official offer to the French club so far.
If the Villans were to decide against tabling a bid for France international in this window, the newspaper states Marseille president Pablo Longoria is well aware that he will receive one in the summer.
Ounahi’s imminent arrival allows Marseille to be well prepared, should Guendouzi decide to leave.
