Bayern Munich are keen on signing Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier in January.
On Sunday, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen revealed his side are focused on strengthening their right-back position this month.
Sky Deutschland have a report on the Newcastle player and their title says his signing ‘will not be cheap’ for the Bavarian club.
Within the report, it’s said the 33-year-old has agreed to immediately make a switch to Bayern because he ‘really wants it’. The Magpies, as of now, are standing firm and have rejected the first offer made by the German champions.
This hasn’t put off Thomas Tuchel’s side, who aren’t willing to let go of the former Tottenham Hotspur man. Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg states that ‘talks and negotiations are still ongoing’ for the fullback’s transfer.
Trippier has less than 18 months left on his deal and the journalist claims Eddie Howe’s side are demanding a sale or loan with an obligation to buy set at €13-14m.
It’s not clear whether Bayern are ready to meet Newcastle’s request for the player, who’ll turn 34 years of age later this September. If the Newcastle star were to arrive at Bayern, he’ll sign a contract until 2025.
Trippier has managed eight assists in 28 games for Newcastle United this season.
