AC Milan’s Pervis Estupiñán will join Aston Villa, after the English club made concrete advances. 

On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy of Aston Villa’s negotiations with the Serie A side, who have identified Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui as his successor.

Two days ago, we relayed news the left-back is heading to England to join the Villans. The Rossoneri initially asked for €20m, but the Europa League winners should sign him for €15m.

Aston Villa a few steps from signing

Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a short but important update.

Aston Villa have reached a ‘full agreement’ for a multi-year contract worth €3m net per year plus bonuses.

Unai Emery’s side have to agree terms with the Italian club to secure the 28-year-old’s signature.

Longo claims the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement. There’s a gap of €2-3m between the Premier League side and Milan, without a mention the latter’s request.

The Ecuador international then has to carry out medical tests and sign his contract. This shouldn’t take long, once the clubs find an agreement.

Why Aston Villa want Estupiñán

Lucas Digne was the first choice left-back for Unai Emery for several years and will soon leave them to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The 32-year-old failed to impress in France’s 2-0 World Cup semifinal defeat to Spain. This led to a section of the PSG fans urging the club not to sign him.

However, the French press claims Digne has a verbal agreement with PSG, who will sign him by triggering his €10m release clause. His impending exit has seen Aston Villa work on signing Pervis Estupiñán.

The Ecuador international spent three years at Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Milan last summer. He played 104 matches for the Seagulls but struggled for a prominent role at the San Siro.

Digne’s departure will allow Estupiñán to get regular minutes at Villa Park next season.
