Five days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Italian side US Cremonese side thinking about signing Rangers’ Cyriel Dessers this summer. It was also stated Philippe Clement’s side value him at €5m.
Philippe Clement and his men are currently in the Netherlands for the pre-season training camp and this allowed Ziggo Sport to have a chat with the 29-year-old.
They quizzed the striker about the recent rumours of his possible exit from Rangers in this window and his comments are relayed by FC Utrecht Fans.
Dessers has revealed that there has been interest, but his desire is to continue at the Scottish club, where he has a contract until 2027.
“I am very happy here, so I would like to stay. There is some interest, but my intention is to stay and then we will see what happens,” he said.
That should certainly please Rangers, who reportedly invested around £4.3m to buy him from Cremonese in July 2023.
The Nigeria international was a regular in his first season at Ibrox and he starred for Rangers, scoring 22 goals and registering nine assists from 54 games. The Belgian manager would be pleased to know about the frontman’s desire to continue in Glasgow.
If a club still insists on signing Dessers, Rangers would be in a better position as he has three years left on his deal.
